Chapters Haul #1 | Savings jackpot that should be appreciated because now I have more BOOKS!

Okay, so this was maybe two/three weeks ago…and I wanted to take photos of these books for this post and I kept pushing it off until I finally said, “Let’s take pictures of EVERYTHING IN MY ROOM BECAUSE I’M BORED.” πŸ˜…

Let’s appreciate all those titles because I can finally say I own a copy of [insert book here]. Best Booknerd Feeling Ever. Period. To me, buying books is a declaration of love because I hardly buy books and borrow them instead. πŸ‘Œ

Chapters had a sale where you can buy 2 selected YA titles for $20! Twenty dollars. I obviously had to buy four and one was 3 bucks. (I’ll specify which books below)

*round of applause for the awesome deal the book gods have preached us with*

I got one sentence for you: I’m a happy fangirl.

Now, why did I buy these books?? What was going through my book-filled brain as I stood in front of the shelf for at least half an hour making a decision??

*If I reviewed the novel, links are in the title. If I didn’t, link goes to Goodreads*

An Ember in the Ashes by Sabaa Tahir

I love this book and when I saw it was an option, I could not not buy it! The paperback is just as pretty as the hardcover, even though I like hardcovers better. It’s pretty much the same cover, but the writing is much much smaller. I still haven’t reread it yet but I will be soon BECAUSE THE SEQUEL IS COMING OUT AT THE END OF AUGUST!!! Again, got this for $10!! πŸ˜±πŸ˜±

Red Queen by Victoria Aveyard

This was another title I knew I had to get. Red Queen was such a surprise for me in 2016 that I felt like it deserved to be bought and showcased on my shelf. Look how precious it is!!! πŸ˜πŸ˜  The paperback is so very tiny compared to the hardcover so now I have to wait for Glass Sword to be released in paperback BECAUSE IT HAS TO MATCH.

The next two books that I got for the 2 for $20 deal, I had a lot of trouble deciding on. There was a very small choice for the selected titles and most I already owned or I felt I wasn’t going to reread which I had no problem knowing with Red Queen and An Ember in the Ashes. Because of this dilemma, I opted to buy two books I’ve never read before because deals = nice chance to try new books.

The Raven Boys by Maggie Stiefvater

I recently read and reviewed, The Scorpio Races by the same author and fell in love with her writing all over again. What made me buy this one was because I think it was time I caught up on Stiefvater’s works and hope that the Shiver trilogy and The Scorpio Races weren’t a fluke. The premise of this novel does make me nervous as it’s not what I’m usually interested in. If any of you have read this, let me know what you thought of it!!

The Queen of Tearling by Erika Johansen

I used trusty Google to help me make this decision. First, the cover caught my eye. It also let me know that it was probably a fantasy novel. (I don’t know the castle made me come to that conclusion and I talk about the power of covers here) The blurb looked so interesting and it seemed like the heroine was going to kickass. I used Google to read some reviews and ratings (an 4.01 average on Goodreads and the next books were even higher). I also found that romance was not even a genre that was to be categorized with it, so I was sold. Crossing my fingers it’s good!!

After Obsession by Carrie Jones & Steven E. Wedel

IMG_2685

Okay, so I’ve seen this book on bargain shelves for a while now, and I would think about buying it, then I would carry it with me as I browsed the store, then right when I’m about to check out…I kind of lose faith it in and put in back on the shelf. Of course, it had to be on sale for 3 dollars before I actually go and buy it. πŸ˜‚ Do I have high hopes? No, not really, but it looks dark and paranormal-y. Furthermore, I’ve read Carrie Jones before as two years ago, I binged read her Need series which is faeries with a dark, murdery twist. So I thought, why not? It’s on sale. πŸ˜‚

Have you read The Raven Boys, The Queen of Tearling or After Obsession before?? How were they? Did you take advantage of this deal?? If yes, which books did you buy? Do you love book sales as much as I do?? Why or why not?

      • Oh, goodness! What did I love the most? That’s so difficult. The characters were just stunning; they were so enjoyable. I also loved that it was unlike anything else I had ever read though. It’s utterly unique.

  1. Queen of the Tearling!!! I liked it, not love, mostly because I have so many questions and those didn’t get answered at all. I absolutely loved the sequel, though, so if you don’t like this one, I’d say persevere!! I’m eyeing the Raven Boys as well, so looking forward to your review!

  2. Nice haul! I need to get my hand on an ember in ashes book. I liked the feel of the pages of book too. Holding a phone to read is convenient but flipping the pages and touching the texture, ebook can’t compare haha

    • Thank you! πŸ™‚ YOU NEED AN EMBER IN THE ASHES!!!!! IT’S SOO GOOD!! I seriously recommend it! I would give up my first born child for it. πŸ˜‚ I completely agree with you about physical copies. They really can’t compare to ebooks when it comes to that! I have a healthy relationship with both; I will practically read a book in any form because BOOKS ARE FOREVER. πŸ™‚
