Top 10 Books To Read for an Epic Book Hangover ft Honourable Mentions

top-10-book-hangover-books

In honour of the epic book hangover I currently have and slowly healing from, I made a list of books that gave me an insanely long and painful book hangover (well, if felt that way).

If you’re looking for your next book hangover, consider this a list of recommendations ’cause I got you covered. 😉blogdivider

10626594The Scorpio Races
By Maggie Steifvater

IT WAS ALL BECAUSE OF THAT DANG ENDING THAT GOT ME ALL SCREWED UP IN THE HEAD. THAT ENDING. I JUST COULDN’T DEAL WITH IT!! I wanted to sob and cry but it was so hopeful and amazing, that I just couldn’t express those emotions. [Review]

“I am here on firm ground, but part of me is already down on the beach, and my own blood is singing, I’m so so alive.”

The Winner’s Trilogy
By Marie Rutkoski

God, I devoured this trilogy in two days and my life was a mess after that. This is by far one of my favourite fantasy series ever. I’m so glad I found this gem. I couldn’t read another fantasy novel for a while because nothing could live up to the awesomeness that were these novels. Arin and Kestrel are the best of characters. I love this world and I love the manipulation. These books are perfection.

“Isn’t that what stories do, make real things fake and fake things real?”

23636581Blurred Lines
By Lauren Layne

This book killed me then brought me back to life. This is what hit the nail on the coffin for me as an eternal Lauren Layne fan. I recommend this book to everyone. *deep breaths* Just thinking about this book again brings back all the memories of tears and joy. This book hangover was because of the incredible characters that I got attached to, and how I was on a rollercoaster of emotions. My heart hurt when reading this.

“Can you come get me?”

“Anywhere. Always.”

24889218Wicked Heart
By Leisa Rayven

I pretty much started crying a quarter way in through the book. I was downright making incoherent noises by the end. This book left a significant mark on my heart. I was both so happy and so distressed that this book hangover lasted for almost a month. The romance was so good. The angst, the emotions, the love. All there. Amplified by 100.

“I’ve never stopped loving you. From the day we met, you’ve been the only one for me. There’s never been anyone else.”

The Wrath & The Dawn
By Renee Ahdieh

Khalid. Khalid. Khalid. You just like taking my heart out of my chest and playing with it don’t you? Honestly, I adore this retelling of 1001 Arabian Nights to the point where all I want to do is share this book with the world. Everything from the words, to the characters (not only Khalid, because Shazi is goals) to the heart-breaking blend of romance and fantasy. I loved this so much. I’m so grateful that I found this beauty weeks before the release of the final novel in the duology so although my book hangover was intense, it was subdued because I got a taste of my Shazi and Khalid in less than a month. [Review]

The Orphan Queen
By Jodi Meadows

Holy shit. This book hangover pretty much lasted more than a year. I WAITED A WHOLE YEAR FOR THE MIRROR KING TO COME OUT AND I WAS SO EMOTIONALLY UNSTABLE. Once, I finished The Mirror King, I had a few months of crying into my pillow because Wil and Tobiah’s story was done and I’m going to hopefully buy these books once both can be sold in paperback. THIS BOOK IS JUST SO GOOD. Fantasy novels will always have a special place in my heart, and it’s these ones like The Orphan Queen that remind me that there is nothing better than stabby scenes, strong, sarcastic heroines, and swoon-worthy romance among it all. Pure romance novels got nothing on stabby scenes. 😉😍 [Review]

25494343Lady Midnight
By Cassandra Clare

I absolutely love the Shadow world and I thought I couldn’t love another couple as much as Clace and Malec but this new series by Cassie blows me away with the new content and IM LOVING THE SHIPS!! 😍😍 Emma is the new heroine and she is a star. She’s so badass, and I just get all squealing when I read about her in The Mortal Instruments when she was a kid. She’s so grown up. *wipes away tear* The hangover was short with this one but very strong. It was easier to heal from this because I had a lot of other content to indulge myself with. *cough*  Like 2 series worth of 9 books. 😀 [Review]

“This girl was practically vibrating to pieces over the idea of a dead body.”

A Court of Mist and Furyacomaf-ipad
By Sarah J. Maas

Every time I reread this, I go back to that hole of despair and utter devotion. The book hangover is the aftermath of brilliant story-telling and world-building, the most craziest plot twists, badass characters, everything to do with Rhys and the best underlining theme ever. #Feminism This hangover was massive. Finishing ACOMAF left a pit in my chest because SJM just ripped my heart into shreds because a) cliffhanger b) how could she do this to Feyre and c) RHYSAND’S POV AT THE END. I sounded like a broken record, screaming “OHMYGOD” over and over again. The story really didn’t settle until I read ACOMAF for the second time, when I went for book hangover Round 2. [Review]

28260587Empire of Storms
By Sarah. J. Maas

This book has ruined me for future books. This also happened to be my most recent hangover. I couldn’t read anything other than rereads for almost two months because I couldn’t handle reading anything new. That’s how good this book was. I’m so heartbroken, and sad and in love with Sarah J. Maas’ genius. I really can’t handle how this book sucked me in. When I got this book, I had a lot going on with school and I knew that if I started reading, I would neglect the massive assignments that were due very soon, so I had to push it off over and over again. Much to Shayla’s dismay. 😂 Seriously, you have no idea how long I tried to prolong my inevitable painful book hangover. Honestly, I’m torn between the pain of the hangover or the wait to read this amazing novel.

“Even if this thing between them … even if he knew it was not mere lust, or even just love. This thing between them, the force of it, could devour the world.”

27362503It Ends with Us
By Colleen Hoover

I didn’t know the definition of ugly cry until I read It Ends with Us. Oh my lord, I heaved, I sobbed, I assumed fetal position right after. CoHo is a literary spellcaster. She had me right in the palm of her hands, Lily had me by my heart and Ryle had me by my tearducts. This was emotionally taxing. So much praise for this novel. You only come across that kind of hangover a few times in your life, and for me, this was one of those times. [Review]

“It stops here. With me and you. It ends with us.”
