What My Dream Book Conference Looks Like | Author Panels, Book Signing, ARCs and Book Characters Come Alive

what-my-dream-book-conference-looks-like

Hello fellow bookworms! I’m back from the dead to bring you a dream of mine that has been on my mind for a while. Being Canadian, I don’t have access to many bookish conferences like the famous BookCon. (That is on my bucket list. You have no idea how much I want to go to one). If I were organize my dream conference, I would definitely use Eventbrite. Eventbrite is the world’s largest self-service ticketing platform. They help organizers host amazing events and conferences, and connect ordinary people to find a momentum life experience near them.

So to satisfy my unfortunate geographical luck, I’ll be showing you a little glimpse of my hopes and dreams. (and maybe hopefully get a Canadian BookCon started??? Like please for Canadians everywhere. We are nice people. I, We want a book conference. 😘)

So, I envision this conference to last for three days. THREE DAYS OF ULTIMATE FANGIRL FUN. Days 1 and 2 will be my favourite authors answering questions from the crowd (*cough* MY questions) and day 3 we will have special guests coming in…OUR LOVELY BOOK CHARACTERS. ❤️❤️

After each day there will be VIP book signing, authors will be giving away ARCs and one of a kind bookish trinkets like bookmarks and fanart, workshops, photos and meet-n’-greets. (Is this a little far-fetched? Absolutely. But this is my dream so this is what it’s going to be. 🙃)

Day 1: Author Question Panel – Part One

This panel will consist of Sarah J. Maas, author of the Throne of Glass and A Court of Thorns and Roses series, Richelle Mead, author of Vampire Academy series, Victoria Aveyard, author of Red Queen series and Jennifer L. Armentrout, author of Obsidian, and A Problem with Forever.

Me: Sarah, first I love your books so much. You’re a fabulous writer. You have created many ships in your Throne of Glass and A Court of Thorns and Roses novels that many readers have fallen in love with. Out of all of them, this will be hard I’m sure, which one do you love the most and why?

Sarah: [insert response here]

Me: Richelle, the film industry and the fans has moved on from the Vampire Academy franchise. What is your opinion on this and I would love to know your thoughts on the movie itself.

Richelle: [insert response here]

Me: Victoria, your series has blown the bookish world away. You have a colouring book out now, and King’s Cage will be releasing in a few months. How would you describe your writing style?

Victoria: [insert response here]

Me: Jennifer, I adore all your YA series. I’ve noticed a common trait among your male love interests. They all seem to have green eyes! Can you give an explanation for this similarity?

Jennifer: [insert response here]blogdivideropposite

(So I’m obviously on first name basis with these amazing authors… pshh, I mean why wouldn’t I be?)

Day 2: Author Question Panel – Part Two

Today’s panel consists of Cassandra Clare, The Shadowhunter World, Colleen Hoover, Maybe Someday, November 9 and It Ends with Us, Kelley Armstrong, Cainsville, and Lauren Layne, The Wedding Belles and Blurred Lines.

Me: Cassie!! Congrats on Season 2 of Shadowhunters! You must be excited! I know I can’t wait for January. You have written so many series in the Shadowhunter world, how do you keep finding inspiration to continue to take readers into this world?

Cassie: [insert response here]

Me: Colleen, your books make me ugly cry at the best, but they also make me laugh and snort. Having the ability to evoke so many emotions in your writing, I want to know what are your favourite scenes to write and are you looking to venture into different types of genres like action or fantasy?

Colleen: [insert response here]

Me: Kelley, being a very successful Canadian writer *gives a conspiratory nod of approval* what is your advice for aspiring writers who want to take writing farther into their life?

Kelley: [insert response here]

Me: Lauren, in celebration of your upcoming novel, Love Story, if you could go on a road trip with any characters from your novels, who would they be and why?

Lauren: [insert response here]

Day 2 concludes with more book signing and fun workshops and meet and greets with authors and fellow booknerds!blogdivider

Day 3: Book Character Panel That Everyone Wishes Could Happen

Special appearances include Arin from The Winner’s Curse by Marie Rutkoski, Rhysand, Feyre and Aelin from Sarah J. Maas’ books, the crew from Obsidian by Jennifer L. Armentrout, Cassie from The Naturals by Jennifer Lynn Barnes, and Ridge from Maybe Someday by Colleen Hoover.

Me: Arin, you went through an emotional journey with Kestrel. I’m pretty we all were rooting for your happy ending. We don’t get to hear much of your thoughts, so today, I want to know the moment you knew, without a doubt, that you loved Kestrel.

Arin: [insert response here]

Me: Rhys, I have so many questions for me but the most important one: if Feyre’s okay with it, can you taking me flying and give me a hug before or after, or both times?

Rhys: Yes, of course, Michelle! I would love to!! *winks*

Me: *internally freaks out* Thanks Rhys!

Me: Aelin and Feyre, you are absolutely the heroines I look up to in the bookish world. I believe this is the first time you two met, and you’re hitting it off like old friends! What are your versions of a perfect date and a girls night in (or out)?

Aelin: *plays with dagger* [insert response here]

Feyre: *glances at her paint covered nails* [insert response here]

Me: Daemon and Katy, this is a question for the both of you. What are your favourite memories of each other and are their daemon babies in the future??

Katy: *blushes [insert response here]

Daemon: *ass-eating grin* [insert response here]

Me: Dee!! You are absolutely friendship goals. What would be your ultimate car ride song and why?

Dee: [insert response here]

Me: Cassie, we heard from you not long ago, but how are you doing now? Are there any updates to you planning to expand the Naturals program?

Cassie: *watches me intently* [insert response here]

Me: Hi Ridge! *blushes* I think I’m speaking for everyone here, but could you play us a song after? I would also love for you to teach me some sign language!

Ridge: *grabs his guitar* [insert response here]

Annnd that’s my dream book conference!! Ahh! That was so much fun! I hope you enjoyed reading it and hopefully squealed along the way. Share this and maybe we can actually get responses from some authors!! Just think if that actually happened! 😱 😱

What author would you love to make an appearance at a book conference? What questions would you ask?? What is your opinion on my take of the book character panel? Who would you love to be real and what question would you ask? Nevermind that, if you could hang out with a book character for a day, what would that look like?!
