mostanticjuly2016

School’s out. Time for boooooks!! I’m definitely getting a more contemporary feel with the releases I chose for this month, so I guess we are continuing the trend from last month. I’m going to be swooning and wishing for a summer romance all through July. And what better to live through those summer dreams than escaping into the joys inbetween the pages?

this savage songThis Savage Song
By Victoria Schwab

RELEASE DATE: JULY 5TH

There’s no such thing as safe in a city at war, a city overrun with monsters. In this dark urban fantasy from author Victoria Schwab, a young woman and a young man must choose whether to become heroes or villains—and friends or enemies—with the future of their home at stake. The first of two books.

Kate Harker and August Flynn are the heirs to a divided city—a city where the violence has begun to breed actual monsters. All Kate wants is to be as ruthless as her father, who lets the monsters roam free and makes the humans pay for his protection. All August wants is to be human, as good-hearted as his own father, to play a bigger role in protecting the innocent—but he’s one of the monsters. One who can steal a soul with a simple strain of music. When the chance arises to keep an eye on Kate, who’s just been kicked out of her sixth boarding school and returned home, August jumps at it. But Kate discovers August’s secret, and after a failed assassination attempt the pair must flee for their lives.

This sounds very intriguing. I love some internal struggle when it comes to morality and there’s hints of monsters and fantasy which I LOVE. It’s dark and the “can steal a soul with a simple strain of music” sounds like a very dark twist on sirens. I’m going to be keeping my eye out for this one, and I think you guys should too.

hp and cursed childHarry Potter and the Cursed Child
By J.K Rowling

RELEASE DATE: JULY 31ST

Based on an original new story by J.K. Rowling, Jack Thorne and John Tiffany, Harry Potter and the Cursed Child, a new play by Jack Thorne, is the first official Harry Potter story to be presented on stage. It will receive its world premiere in London’s West End on 30th July 2016

It was always difficult being Harry Potter and it isn’t much easier now that he is an overworked employee of the Ministry of Magic, a husband, and father of three school-age children.

While Harry grapples with a past that refuses to stay where it belongs, his youngest son Albus must struggle with the weight of a family legacy he never wanted. As past and present fuse ominously, both father and son learn the uncomfortable truth: sometimes darkness comes from unexpected places.

CAN I HAVE THIS NOW?! Do I seriously have to wait until the end of the month?? *screams in pain* I guess for now, I will promptly fangirl and squeal in delight as more news from the play comes up. Has anyone see the cast for this yet?? Because I’m a good person I have linked to the articles here and here and here.

defending taylorDefending Taylor (Hundred Oaks #7)
By Miranda Kenneally

RELEASE DATE: JULY 5TH

There are no mistakes in love.

Captain of the soccer team, president of the Debate Club, contender for valedictorian: Taylor’s always pushed herself to be perfect. After all, that’s what is expected of a senator’s daughter. But one impulsive decision-one lie to cover for her boyfriend-and Taylor’s kicked out of private school. Everything she’s worked so hard for is gone, and now she’s starting over at Hundred Oaks High.

Soccer has always been Taylor’s escape from the pressures of school and family, but it’s hard to fit in and play on a team that used to be her rival. The only person who seems to understand all that she’s going through is her older brother’s best friend, Ezra. Taylor’s had a crush on him for as long as she can remember. But it’s hard to trust after having been betrayed. Will Taylor repeat her past mistakes or can she score a fresh start?

I love sports themed novels. It’s just a fact and this sounds so very promising!!! I’m a huge fan of the Hundred Oaks series and I’m expecting nothing less from Miranda Kenneally’s next novel in it. NOTHING LESS. I’m also getting flashbacks of She’s The Man right now and I’m just dying to get this book in my hands!! I just really hope it won’t be a “parody” of the movie. But I have faith that I’ll enjoy this one as much as the others.

tornTorn (A Wicked Saga #2)
By Jennifer L. Armentrout

RELEASE DATE: JULY 19TH

Torn between duty and survival, nothing can be the same.

Everything Ivy Morgan thought she knew has been turned on its head. After being betrayed and then nearly killed by the Prince of the Fae, she’s left bruised and devastated—and with an earth-shattering secret that she must keep at all costs. And if the Order finds out her secret, they’ll kill her.

Then there’s Ren Owens, the sexy, tattooed Elite member of the Order who has been sharing Ivy’s bed and claiming her heart. Their chemistry is smoking hot, but Ivy knows that Ren has always valued his duty to the Order above all else—he could never touch her if he knew the truth. That is, if he let her live at all. Yet how can she live with herself if she lies to him?

But as the Fae Prince begins to close in on Ivy, intent on permanently opening the gates to the Otherworld, Ivy is running out of options. If she doesn’t figure out who she can trust—and fast—it’s not only her heart that will be torn apart, but civilization itself.

Did a recent reread of Wicked and I’m so happy that the sequel is coming out soon AFTER WAITING YEARS FOR THE RELEASE. (It’s only two years BUT two years is ALOT.) JLA dropped a bomb on us in Book 1 and I think we are all ready to get some answers in this sequel. Will Ren find out about Ivy’s secret?? Will there be more steamy sex scenes?? What is Ivy going to do next?? Will we get more information about the Fae Prince?? Ivy’s family?? I NEED TO KNOW!!

This month I’m getting delicious releases from my favourite authors and one new YA debut I’m going to keep my eyes and ears peeled for reviews and THE BOOK. Maybe I can make a dent in my TBR… Or keep it growing strong… BUT I’M DOING SOME MARATHON READING SOON!!

Other books I must mention:
